Painting Chester Racecourse

At the end of 2024 I was delighted to be commissioned to create a painting for one of the UK’s major attractions: Chester Racecourse. Established in 1539, the racecourse is considered the world’s oldest operational course and being approached to paint such an iconic place rich in heritage has been a real honour.

From an artists’ perspective, the Racecourse certainly delivers and there’s plenty to work with; centuries old heritage, Roman walls lining part of the course and a city centre location with iconic architectural features lining the final exhilarating furlong.

The resulting painting will be auctioned on Wednesday 11th June 2025 (click here for info) with a public viewing on 9th and 10th June between 9.30am and 5.00pm. Private viewings are also available.

All proceeds will go to the OH Foundation’s projects and Retraining of Racehorses (ROR) — giving retired racehorses a new lease on life beyond the track.
